Receiving questions on the US/ Iran and Vietnam trip, so I will push out some thoughts to help us every day, like How to Win A Hostile Room, and by the way, glad Amy is on the team to show how to win in a sales room.
Negotiation Lesson: What Not to Do
The first thing in negotiations is to avoid these ‘face-offs’ – so to never put on the table the nuclear option and in this case, it is literal as Iran is searching the world over for biological weapons.
Stalemates happen because usually both sides have made stupid decisions, like thinking an air raid is going to decapitate an entrenched regime, which is like trying to eradicate a fire ant bed; you kick it and douse it with water. It makes it worse.
Iran’s mistake is thinking Trump would not wise up and course correct. They should have struck a deal last week.
In short, it is now a hostile stalemate with a time ticker on who breaks first. This is a sucker strategy because whoever breaks will seek revenge until the Kingdom come.
So what do you do if this happens to you – wind up in the middle of a hate debate of who dies first?
The other side hates you, so you have to find something they hate more to feel secure and safe.
For example, in a hostile divorce that is running up bills, both sides can say let’s not let the lawyers win. Let’s work it out.
Throw the divorce lawyers under the bus.
Two things we know – the Iranian and Israeli populations are two of the most cultured civilizations in human history. Both are historic in values and principles. You are not going to get hate there. But Netanyahu and Koemrni different story.
Between those two, I see a good divorce lawyer.
This could get a deal done.
Otherwise, a lot of dog days afternoons with Tehran.
More Mooch Drama.
A couple of years ago, I was talking to Anthony Scaramucci about attending a thinktank event.
We could not get straight on dates, so we let it go until the other day. I got an email from him and his wife they would like to attend on May 13th.
Anthony called and said he’ll let his management team handle the details. We worked with them on details and were going to forward money for flights and expenses, etc.
I sent Kaete a note to wire it until I saw a flaw and sent her a 5-alarm text to not send. It was all fraud impersonation.
We now have a code anytime we wire or electronically send money.
The World Turns….and often in a good way, as we saw in Hanoi, Vietnam, last week. Every entrepreneur got on a plane thinking – I don’t have time for this trip. Today, every one of us wants to go back.
As Dr Carson posted from the trip. Life is short. Grow and enjoy.
