If Business Invented Brands, Why Are Trump and Ella Langley Masters of Them – What We Can Learn…

Trump Brand Expeditions

Claude tells me the worst time to send a post is after lunch, so I am right on time here, but it’s just about the biggest brand story in the history of business, so I will let it fly.

With Trump, the business media is out to lunch on this brand story of behavior, total allegiance of a customer/voter when they feel like they are heard.

Other than this hot Iran war that could go nuclear, Trump should come off the political pages; we more or less by now know what we are dealing with, and Trump’s story now is a marketing play with brand loyalty and now in Grateful Dead territory.

Excuse me, but Trump does things that would crash and burn any other presidency in a matter of hours.

Instead, in an NFL kickoff week, Trump filled an arena full of people at a Texas Stadium in the middle of the week. All on top of this.

Trump: “Mr. Zelenskyy has to stop knocking out diesel fuel in Russia, because he’s causing a shortage of diesel fuel. This isn’t done by the Middle East; this is done by what’s happening with Russia and Ukraine.”

Trump: “If the ruling is a negative one (no Trump name on Kennedy Center), and is not overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court, the reconstruction and the renovation of the Kennedy Center will not take place.” It will be demolition, man.

Quick reminder: it’s a monument to an American President who was assassinated in the lap of his wife.

Trump had Natalie Harp compose the message above for the Treasury Secretary, who, as far as I can tell, is imposing illegal gambling.

But his brand plows through it to the point that his competitors stay confused.

Trump’s brand in business should be a case study in business school. We have to understand the power of brands without accountability.

Always knew we were getting hosed on the grocery store ‘organic’ label, at least helping their gross margins, but the Costco organic chicken scandal surprised me – raised in hatch factories just like Aldi’s.

So, off the Grocery store grid – product by product – we are finding holistic small-scale farms shipping to homes, as Chris does with Jackson Hole Buffalo Meat.

This week – Garlic – turns out to be one of the highest pesticide products in produce.

Raw and black garlic produce – China accounts for 76% of world production and 99.6% of major grocery shelves. Here is the purest, pesticide-free garlic and it acts as a superior supplement.

Bad Ass Brands Explained

Whether you like these products is not the point here; the point is to understand that they break things, but nothing breaks them.

Ella Langley’s Dirt Road to Heaven.

Inside the University of GA’s Sanford Stadium on Saturday, the loudest cheer was not from a touchdown or even the marching band, but when, on the big screen, they played Ella Langley singing ‘Choosing Texas’; the student section lit up and jumped out of their seats with the loudest, rabid voices of the entire day.

The next day at the mud bogging contest in South Carolina.

More Ella Langley.

It was an all-American event. Red necks, American flags, excessive noise, and JESUS. Pure, clean, honest fun. Pop-up tents and coolers. The biggest sponsor was the local well driller.

My friends there, who only listen to Merle and George Jones, have felt like country music left them in the dark; they never knew the difference between Billy Ray and Garth, and now blaring from their outdoor speakers was Ella Langley.

On Oct 23rd, the Emotional Connection session will cover the communication strategy and platform to build emotional brands and here is good news – never been easier.
